Description

Steeped in history, the Church House Inn, Churchstow, is a 13th Century pub, built as a rest house for Benedictine Monks from Buckfast Abbey it has been a hostelry of one kind or another all of its life. Bursting with unspoilt original charm and character, so rare to find, inglenook fireplace, log burners and beams a plenty, with legends of smuggling monks and tunnels down in the well in the main entrance, leading to the Church and beyond. We have 4 newly converted en-suite BandB rooms, built round the restrictions of a Grade 2 listing. Sorry no dogs allowed in our rooms. All perfectly formed for short breaks. Some parts date back to 13th Century, with low ceilings and doors, so please mind your head! Daily on-site management Daily housekeeping included in the room rate 1 night minimum stays available We have a range of dining options: The restaurant and bar is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Open for Residents Breakfast 7 days a week. Intimate tables for two, four and six A private dining room for up to 10 people - The Snug Restaurant dining room for groups of 14 - 50 groups. Our sun-filled Conservatory room accommodating sit down dining for up to 35 or an informal buffet for up to 50 people. Ideal for intimate days away, friend and family gatherings, celebrations, Wedding gatherings and more. In addition we have two outside dining areas, our patio and secret garden and our own car park, reserved spaces for residential guests.

Our Team pride themselves on offering a personal, friendly service where nothing is too much trouble to deliver for you. Our kitchen Team lead by our Head Chef are passionate about serving up the very best of local produce. The South Hams has a wealth of seriously good food right on its doorstep, our menus are tailored to tap into this ever growing supply on a daily basis supporting local farms and producers wherever we can. Serving a mix of contemporary and classic dishes. Please note that the restaurant and pub are closed on Sunday evenings, all day Mondays and Tuesdays. Our rooms are still open for Breakfast of course for Breakfast included rate guests on Mondays and Tuesdays. When arriving on a Sunday evenings or Monday and Tuesdays your keys will be left in a key safe for you to access your room, leaving you free to come and go as you please. It is important that you indicate an expected time of arrival to ensure your keys are in place and provide a correct contact mobile number in order that we can text you instructions as the building is not manned when closed.
