April Cottage Information

Description

Although April Cottage is over 200 years old, it is able to offer you many modern comforts; including underfloor heating and, for those who need to stay connected, both wired and wireless broadband connections. Of course not everything modern can be considered progress, so your tea and coffee making facilities will include a fridge with fresh milk rather than UHT cartons. As we only let one room you will also have exclusive use of a separate lounge, we call it the music room because it's where our piano lives, which opens out onto a private sheltered patio. In the morning you can enjoy your choice of breakfast*, helping yourself to cereals, fresh fruit, squeezed juices, yogurts, freshly baked bread, pastries and home made preserves, or ordering a cooked breakfast made with locally sourced dry cured bacon and free range eggs from our own chickens. All washed down with a cafetiere of fresh ground coffee or a pot of Yorkshire tea. *In 2023 we are also offering a room only option, for those who don't eat breakfast or who wish to stay at times when we are not available to cook. This rate, which offers a saving of £20 on our standard price, is not available on-line, so please contact us for details AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT LATE BOOKINGS: If you would like to arrange a stay with us less than two days in advance, rather than relying on the on-line booking facility, you MUST call us first. We offer bed and breakfast accommodation, in addition to our other work commitments, as a small part-time business. For this reason we are not usually able to provide accommodation at very short notice.

Directions

  • Road from A19/A168 (23.0 miles)
Follow signs for Scarborough (A170). Stay on the A170 for approximately 22 miles, passing through Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside. Just over a mile past Kirkbymoorside take a left turn (signed Appleton Le Moors, Cropton, Lastingham). Follow this road for three miles, passing through Appleton and then take a right turn (signed Lastingham). At the bottom of the hill bear right, over a bridge and past a red telephone box. We are the third house on the right after that telephone box.
  • Train from York (34.0 miles)
As Lastingham is not directly served by public transport, a taxi is usually the most practical way of getting here from York.
