Description

Portclew House is a grand country mansion set in its own grounds. This ideal location in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks is just a stone’s throw from the beautiful bay at Freshwater East. Rated one of the worlds best beaches Barafundle is the next bay along the coastline and is easily reached either by car or along the coastal footpath. This family run establishment is suitable whether your stay is for business purposes or pleasure. You will find the friendly, comfortable surroundings most welcoming. We have seven bedrooms consisting of family, double, twin and single rooms. All have ensuite facilities, flat screen TV, hairdryers and complimentary tea and coffee facilities. The double and family rooms have superking size beds. Ironing facilities are available on request. Cots and high chairs are also available for our younger guests. We also offer free WiFi. Our dining room boasts a sunny balcony where you are welcome to take breakfast on more pleasant days. A good hearty Aga cooked breakfast will start your day. We are situated near the coastal footpath and can accommodate walkers to the area by providing packed lunches, clothes drying facilities etc. We are ideally located for all beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts who should visit the bays at Freshwater East, Manorbier, Tenby, Broadhaven South, Freshwater West and not forgetting the paradise found at the hidden bay of Barafundle. Local attractions include Oakwood Theme Park, Heatherton Country Park and Folly Farm. Pembroke Castle is just a few miles away and the birthplace of Henry VII. Other castles to visit include Carew, Manorbier and Picton. A visit to the lily ponds at Bosherson and St. Govans Chapel is a must. In the grounds of the guesthouse we have seven self catering cottages of varying sizes.

Directions

  • Road from Carmarthen (32.0 miles)
    The M4 motorway to Carmarthen links with M5, M50 and major trunk roads. From Carmarthen follow the A477, turn left at Milton Village for Lamphey. In Lamphey turn left and then take the B4584 for Freshwater East. Portclew House is about 1.5 miles up that road on the left side.
  • Train from Carmarthen (32.0 miles)
    There is a regular train service to the area and stations can be found in the next village of Lamphey and also in Pembroke.
  • Boat from Ireland (5.0 miles)
    The ferry from Ireland sails into Pembroke Dock and Fishguard.
