Brookside Villa B&B, created from 2 semi-detached Victorian villas, offers stylish ensuite bedrooms, a bar & evening meals on Hadrian’s Wall Trail close by Birdoswald Fort, and other historical sites - Housesteads, Vindolanda, Lanercost Priory. At the very heart of Hadrian’s Wall Trail (0.25miles), on Route 72 Hadrian’s Wall Cycleway, we offer a Trail Walkers' Package which includes pick-up and drop-off on the Trail. Our guests tell us that we've thought of everything, and welcome our attention to detail. Our job is to help you enjoy your visit, and we continue to work towards that. We are in a quiet hamlet a short walk from Gilsland, just 7 minutes walk from Hadrian's Wall Trail itself, on the border of Cumbria & the western edge of the awe-inspiring Northumberland National Park. 45 minutes east is Newcastle upon Tyne—via the historic towns of Hexham & Corbridge. 1/2hour west is Carlisle & little further the Solway Coast. Just 1 hour drive to Cumbria's Lake District. Once here you are made welcome and can have tea, wine, or a locally brewed beer in the garden with views toward Hadrians Wall, or in the homely lounge in front of a log fire. Explore our menu and enjoy an exquisite home-cooked dinner at c.7pm -prepared from local, organic, Fairtrade, free-range produce. 5 bright, contemporary-styled bedrooms offer bathrobes, hair dryers, free wifi, TV, radio, hot drinks tray. Our spotless bedrooms are carefully and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of the most demanding guests after a long day walking, cycling or site-seeing. Comfortable beds with duvets & crisp white linens; ensuites with huge towels, powerful showers, lashings of hot water and luxury toiletries. Polished wood floors gleam throughout; racks for your walking boots, hooks to hang your packs. Whist we make every effort to meet specific room requests, your room will be allocated on arrival.

Our Victorian house is built atop a hill and has a total of 7 steps and a slope from car park to front door. Three bedrooms are on the first floor, with a wide wooden curved staircase to reach, and one bedroom is on the second floor via another staircase. The location, position and style of the house would make it difficult for anybody with moderately-severe mobility problems to use the facilities with the degree of comfort we wish to afford all our guests. Please advise us of any impairment which may impede your ability to respond to alarms or to exit the building so that we can ensure extra care in case of emergency.
