Alma Lodge Guest House Information

Description

Located overlooking the small golf course at Central Park, Alma Lodge Guest House in Milehouse is nearest b&b to Life Centre. Five mins walk to Brittania Inn (Weatherspoon's pub) therefore ideal if tired after a long car journey. Also near Argyle FC. We are only 10 mins walk from train station and 15 minutes walk into City Centre and University (on a regular bus route into the City Centre/University). We are only 3 miles from HMS RALEIGH. On direct bus route to Raleigh. Ideally situated for Dockyard and also on bus route to Derriford Hospital. Central Park has a picnic area and lovely play area for children with skating park close by. Facilities at the new Life Centre consist of a family leisure pool with flumes, also a 10 lane, 50m swimming pool, a diving pool, (where you might be lucky to see Future Olympics training). Also indoor bowls centre, 12 court sports hall, squash courts, innovative climbing zone, dance, soft play, crèche and a gym (150 stations) and group exercise classes. With a lot more, Plymouth is historical, with its Mayflower Steps in the Barbican (where the first American settlers set sail from England). Scott of the Antartic, born in Milehouse, Sir Francis Drake and the famous Hoe. We are only 10 mins drive from the historical Hoe (sea front) and Barbican areas, which make for a great day out. Also, by car, the bridge between Devon & Cornwall is within 5/10 minutes from the Alma Lodge Guest House. Ferry Ports to France & Spain are only 10 mins drive away. Directions

  • Road from A38 - Part 1 (1.5 miles)
On the A38 approaching Plymouth, go straight over flyover. Keep on dual carriageway until you see signs marked 'Ferry Port/City Centre'. Turn off at this sign (Manadon turning) - slight slope to traffic lights. Take second exit still following signs. You will join another dual carriageway (Outland Road, A386). Keep on Outland Road and go past Plymouth Argyle Football Club (car park at front). At traffic lights just past grounds, bear left following park wall.
  • Road from A38 - Part 2 (1.5 miles)
Travel along dual carriageway (with a bus depot on your right) until you reach a roundabout (called the Pennycomequick roundabout). Go round this and back up the dual carriageway. This is Alma Road. Travel up the hill (dual carriageway) and when passing speed camera you should see an old fashioned lampost in garden with swinging sign - this is Guest House ie 125 Alma Road. You can pull in on driveway or turn (corner plot) on Cuffe Road - unrestricted parking.
  • Train from Plymouth Station (0.5 miles)
Walking - come out of Railway Station - turn right. Walk to end of road until you come to bus shelter - turn right and go down the hill (under tunnel). You will come to a roundabout (Pennycomequick). Take the 2nd exit off roundabout - up a hill. You will have flats on left and houses and park on right as you are walking. You need to be on the left side of this hill and once passing speed camera you should be able to see an old fashioned lampost in a garden with a green swinging sign
