Harmony Country Lodge Information

Description

A unique and octagonally designed, peaceful countryside retreat, close to Scarborough offering a warm welcome and bed and breakfast with a difference. Harmony is totally non smoking and situated in tranquil extensive grounds, surrounded by beautiful 360 degree panoramic views, overlooking the National Park and sea. Our aim at Harmony is to give friendly, personal service during your visit. We can offer attractively decorated, comfortable single, twin, double, or family rooms all with en suite facilities, television, radio alarm and complimentary tray. We have a 'premises drinks licence' and so you could relax with a drink if necessary in the guest lounge or enjoy the superb views from our spacious, conservatory. Away from the busy streets and traffic of Scarborough with ample private parking, it is an ideal base for walking, cycling or motoring with easy access to Scarborough, Whitby, the North York Moors and the dramatic North Yorkshire coastline. You can start your day with a full traditional English breakfast or a vegetarian choice and if given sufficient notice also cater for alternative diets whenever possible. Although our standard breakfast serving time is between 8:30am and 9am, if you have other requirements then we can always discuss alternative options. Please note, due to our elevated location we have 12 low-rise steps into the house. We also have two friendly cats, although they are not allowed in any of the guest rooms but they may possibly be a problem for those allergic to cats. For your comfort and convenience do please make us aware of any special requirements you may need before arriving, and we will try our best to accommodate you. Scarborough, which is England's first holiday resort, is only 3 miles away. 10 min by car. We offer WiFi to our guests and so please feel free to ask for the password on arrival.

The building itself is so unique both with it's shape and commanding 360 degree views. Many guests have commented on the positive energy emanating from the building and gardens. Tony is a former railways civil engineer with building qualifications as a background. This has helped in the improvements made and the several further buildings that have been erected over the years. Also with City & Guilds in garden design this has helped with the many landscape and planting schemes installed. Tony bought the property with Susan in 1995 and so have been working here over 25 years but before this he was a semi professional sidecar road racer and along with his partner Steve Webster won the World Championship in 1987, '88 and '89 before retiring from the sport in 1990. Both Steve & Tony were awarded MBEs for services to sport.
