Hi I'm Val. I used to be a Manager with a high street bank. In 2010 I took redundancy and decided to start a B&B from home. I organised a sausage tasting, inviting family, friends, colleagues and neighbours to come along. There were 3 different pork sausages from local butchers. Everyone had to mark them in order of preference. The winning sausage would be served for breakfast so the decision was out of my hands! Throughout the day 40 people arrived. Thankfully not all at the same time. And a sausage was chosen! We still use our local butcher and we try to source locally for other produce. As Chris likes to say 'we haven't found local baked beans yet!'.
A few years later Chris, my husband had the chance to take redundancy so he became the Baker. He makes the bread for toast at breakfast time and it is very popular. I make blueberry drop scones, delicious with either butter or Canadian maple syrup. We grow fruit in our garden which I use to make the jam we serve at breakfast. While I cook, Chris is front of house chatting and answering questions about the area. We enjoy meeting people from varied backgrounds and occupations from all over the world. You'll receive a warm welcome.
Access to the front door is up 2 steps into a porch and a further step into the hallway.
The double bedrooms are on the first floor up a staircase of 13 steps.
