However, Orford has so much to investigate that there is really no need to get in a car: pack up a picnic, take a map and walk round the river wall, go crabbing from the Quay, visit the Ness painted by Turner in1830, Havergate Island bird sanctuary, go down to Butley Creek where the oyster beds used to be or just enjoy a different footpath every day.
Orford General Store is a 'tardis' of local produce and delicious comestibles, with a Post office and cash point.
