The Big Burns Supper is the world’s largest Burns Night, celebrating poet Robert Burns in the town where spent the he spent last years of his life and died in 1796. In fact, it’s much more than one night, taking place from 18th-28th January. Across 10 days, concerts and performances give a contemporary twist to the traditional celebration of Scotland’s national poet.
Acts performing include Badly Drawn Boy, Sixties legend Donovan, former Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader and rising star of UK hip hop, Ocean Wisdom. They’ll be joined by Public Service Broadcasting, whose songs and soundscapes cleverly incorporate clips from news ad archive media, and ever-popular comedian Bill Bailey.
Now in its 7th year, there is plenty of entertainment for both young and old, including a lantern procession through the streets.
