Image for International Birdman Competition: Witness Human Flight in Bognor Regis!

Spanning the weekend of the 11th and 12th of August, the International Birdman Competition is an event everybody will enjoy. One of the best things is you can also participate if you’re brave and have the know-how.

There are three different categories, one for raising money for charities, which usually involves comedic fancy dress and humourous attempts to succeed. The more serious categories include Leonardo da Vinci and Condor.

Leonardo da Vinci involves you having to design and build your own flying machine and then try to fly it the furthest distance to claim the top spot and prize money of £1000. The Condor category is aimed at hand gliders and experienced glider pilots who want to earn prize money, mementos and trophies.

Of course, if you find yourself lacking the ability to build your own flying beast or you don’t fancy yourself as a hand glider expert, then come by and witness the impressive designs leap off a cliff and hope to soar through the skies. It’s thoroughly entertaining and makes for a great weekend for the whole family.
