If you’ve never yet been to the Pumpkin Festival in Spalding, then you’re missing out on an eventful day of entertainment and fun. The festival takes place around the middle of October.
The day kicks off in the town’s Festival Market, which has undergone a magical transformation into a sweeping sea of orange. There are also many things to tickle your taste buds thanks to many different stalls that sell anything from cakes to pies and soup. You’ll also find craft stalls and the odd stall to raise money for charity.
It wouldn’t be very pumpkin orientated without a few pumpkins thrown in, so you can also learn the art of pumpkin carving which runs throughout the day. Kids will stay entertained with a Punch & Judy show, street entertainment, games and balloon artists, so you can almost be guaranteed the whole family is happy.
Towards the latter parts of the day is the highly-anticipated Pumpkin Lantern Parade where everyone takes their carved pumpkins to the Sheep Market ready for the parade before a spectacle of fireworks illuminate the skies to finish off the day. It’s a fantastic day that shouldn’t be missed and will thoroughly entertain the whole family.
