St Ives celebrates music and the arts again this autumn with another September Festival. For over 30 years music and art lovers have been drawn to the town as the rhythm slows after the summer rush for an irresistible programme of events ranging from live acoustic music to open studios, exhibitions, and workshops.
The Guildhall and The Western Hotel are just two of the many venues across St Ives featuring the very best in acoustic, folk, and roots music. Their guests include famous names like John McCusker Band featuring Heidi Talbot, festival patrons Show Of Hands, Cara Dillon, and Flats And Sharps.
This year’s event is likely to include more fantastic bands such as Fairport Convention, Juan Martin’s Flamenco Trio, Nate Najar Trio, Baka Beyond, Sound of the Sirens, and Budapest Cafe Orchestra.
Previous year’s festivals have set the town of St Ives buzzing with art too. Intimate open studio days allow members of the public to go behind the scenes to witness the creative processes of local ceramic, glass, textile, and paint artists. Porthmeor beach held ceramic pit firing, and exhibitions all over town inspired people to take up their own paintbrushes.
This is a really popular festival, so book your accommodation early, and check out the event guide before you go to make sure you don’t miss anything.
